About This Model

The Musical Fidelity Elektra E100 is a stereo integrated solid-state amplifier that combines a preamplifier and power amplifier stage in a single unit, delivering approximately 100 watts per channel into 8 ohms. Its input lineup includes a built-in phono stage for moving-magnet turntables - note that moving-coil cartridges will require a separate step-up transformer or head-amp. The design is deliberately purist: there are no tone controls, balance controls, filters, or headphone socket, keeping the signal path clean. The fascia is crafted from highly polished anodized aluminium, and the amplifier's frequency response measures flat well below 20Hz and only around 0.5dB down at 30kHz - comfortably exceeding its quoted 20Hz-20kHz specification - giving it a wide-bandwidth, transparent character that earned it strong praise from the hi-fi press of its era.
